The East Fulton Business District is located on the northern edge of East Hills and continues east past our borders. The business district has a retail orientation with a focus on home furnishings, art and antiques. The focus isn’t entirely on the home as the business district also includes unique gift shops, upscale salons, and a yoga & tai chi center. Food offerings include everything form traditional Dutch baked goods to an Ethiopian restaurant and a popular deli. The Fulton Street Farmers Market becomes the heart of the district during the summer through the end of harvest. East Fulton also has two higher education institutions at either end of the district.

Located in the heart of East Hills, the East Hills Business District grows from the intersection of Cherry Street, Lake Drive, and Diamond Avenue, and partially overlaps the Fairmont Square Historic District. This area is highly walkable and includes a mix of old and new businesses. Being anchored by a landmark neighborhood pub and Grand Rapids' only vegetarian restaurant tells a great deal about the unique nature of East Hills. Since the development of the Center of the Universe, a unique sustainable development, the area has been flourishing. The great assortment of shops and restaurants appeal to our residents and to the City at large.

The Wealthy Street Business District is located on the southern border of East Hills and runs through our three historic districts. Wealthy Street offers a unique mix of specialty retailers including a tattoo shop, a unique clothier and art galleries. Wealthy Street is notable for its home improvement businesses including everything from contractors to custom kitchen design and from flooring to antiques. Food is plentiful and diverse on the street including a variety of popular takeout restaurants offering ribs, Jamaican cuisine, Polish dishes or fresh baked bread. The district is anchored by the historic Wealthy Theatre, which functions as a community media center and performing arts venue and is deeply rooted within the surrounding neighborhood.
